The Low Light of Winter

Shorter days can make winter a natural time to look into depression and anxiety therapy in Austin (Texas), even for people who have always been the capable one. Our winters are mild, yet many adults notice their energy and mood dip in the darker months, along with their patience and their interest in things they used to enjoy.
It is easy to explain this away. Too busy, too much travel, just a slow stretch. Sometimes that is true. Sometimes a heaviness has been building for a while, and the season simply makes it harder to ignore.
A few gentle steps can matter: morning daylight when you can get it, a regular hour for sleep, one conversation a week that is honest rather than polished. These are not a replacement for care, but they are a kind way to begin.
Therapy with me is a calm, thoughtful space to understand low mood and what may sit beneath it, drawing on psychodynamic, existential and CBT approaches. If your thoughts turn toward harming yourself, please call or text 988, or call 911. I meet with adults online, through secure video, wherever they are in Texas. You are welcome to book a time.
