Grief Does Not Take a Holiday

A bare oak branch with one small cluster of leaves against a pale winter sky

Many people search for grief therapy in Austin (Texas), in December, when the season asks for celebration and the heart is somewhere else. An empty chair at the table, a first holiday without someone, a tradition that no longer feels right. Loss tends to get louder when everyone around you seems to be gathering.

Grief does not keep a schedule. It can arrive in waves, and it can also appear as irritability, fatigue, or a strange numbness at a party. None of this means you are grieving wrong.

This season, it may help to give yourself permission to do less. Keep one tradition, let another rest. Tell one trusted person what the day is really like for you. Leave room for both the memory and the present.

In therapy, I offer a grounded, unhurried space to be with what you have lost and with who you are becoming after it. Sessions are by secure video for adults located in Texas. When you are ready, you can book a time with me.
